We are the morehouse community in northern California, founded in 1969. We have three locations - two in the SF Bay Area and one in Hawaii. At present only our Oakland, California house is accepting new people - we are 15+ people ages 12 - 70 in a three story 14 bedroom Victorian house.

There is a site at www.lafayettemorehouse.com that describes the Lafayette Group (which is about 12 miles from us) and gives you some idea about our philosophy, our family business, etc.

I'm happy to answer any questions about the Oakland house (where I live), eventually we'll have a website of our own <smile>

The group I'm in, Open Circle, focuses on having warm hearts and open minds. The weather here is warm for half the year.

lots going on in hawaii, although maybe not large enough to be on the net...i suggest posting on some hawaii tribes, but once you're there, that's when you'll find the most. big island-puna district (there are puna-specific tribes, esp ecstatic dance of hawaii and puna nation) also maui, and another island as well, maybe two... (escaping me which ones!) search kalalau valley, nepali coast i think...

thing is, at least with big island, folks in community are often living under the matrix and not much (or at all) on the internet, so it's really best to make connections once you're there...ecstatic dance community is strong-connect in there and you'll find your way.

Michelle - Our community is located in North Florida but has a long waiting list. A good place to start looking for intentional communities around the US (and the world) is the directory at www.ic.org. Not every community is listed but many are. It's a good place to start looking.
