This community seems to have been in the forming stages for over 10 years. Does anyone know more about it or the organizer who calls himself "T."? Lately, he's been asking for monetary contributions, but before any giving, I'd like to hear other folk's impressions or experiences.
Peace,

Re: Anyone know about Eden Community in No. CA ?
Sun, March 23, 2008 - 4:56 PMI just opened an email he posted on the Mendocino County Bulletin Board listserve. The blurry psychedelic lettering and graphics is enough to turn me off, followed by bad grammar and spiritual aphorisms. Could be amazing if it's for real, or it could be flakey.

Re: Anyone know about Eden Community in No. CA ?
Thu, April 24, 2008 - 10:20 PMThanks for your comments. Lately "T" has been asking for more money, claiming there are already 600 supporting members. I'm definitely not sending any money now, but do feel some concern that whoever does will end up with a bad impression of what communities are.
I know its not my responsibility to "defend" the reputation of communities, but still .....Its already difficult enough for honest thoughtful people to start and nurture communities. That's partly due to a common fear of "cult" around the idea of communities, which makes it harder for sincere folks to be attracted to and commit to community living. "T" seems to justify those fears. Any ideas of what the ethical thing to do is? Or are communities just like mainstream society where "caveat emptor" reigns supreme? -

Re: Anyone know about Eden Community in No. CA ?
Sun, April 27, 2008 - 8:33 PMI ran into him on the net a few years back. I will just say my experience was not good, and my evaluation of his plan seemed a bit large to pull together. But he ended up posting this on the tribe I moderate, tribes.tribe.net/ecoark/th...2af94b855a and a whole bunch of other ones. At one time he was trying to pull one together in Belize at the same time, A year or two ago he was selling some land in Washington , I assume from a previous attempt. I will say, he doesn't seem to give up to easily. But I would have someone else hold the money.
P.S., you can buy a lot in "My area" and be your own leader. Ours is a non commune community.
